Joey Nova's
Sextacular! Sextacular!
Neo-bohemian lust-filled rock n roll cabaret
Saturday, January 30 at 10pm (Doors at 9pm) $15 cover @ Hiro Ballroom 89 9th Ave (btwn 16th & 17th St) NYC
Joey Nova Presents "Sextacular! Sextacular!", a re-imagining of the cabaret shows from turn-of-the-century France, but with a modern New York City rock n roll edge. Charmingly egocentric host Joey Nova ("Cutie Patooties", "Vroom! Vision") is joined by co-host Erika Smith ("The Wrestler", "Splatter Beach") as the alluring absinthe-conjured "Green Fairy", as they try to petition the government for a new holiday celebrating SEX! When prudish-but-provocative government liason Kristen Lee (Miss Pin Up Coney Island 2008) is sent in to hear their proposal, Joey and The Green Fairy argue their case by seducing her with twenty titillating acts by fourteen of the hottest performers in burlesque and cabaret, featuring burlesque by the legendary Jo Boobs (of the NY School of Burlesque), Lil' Miss Lixx, and Miss Kissy Wishes and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Hotpants, the dynamic acrobatic duo of Trixie Little and The Evil Hate Monkey, dazzling hula-hoop light & fire shows by "The Daredevil of Burlesque" Justina Flash, astounding aerial performances by Veruca Honeyscotch (of The Peach Tarts), and capricious comedy rap by Schaffer the Darklord! Plus performances by Joey Nova, Erika Smith, Kristen Lee and a heart-stopping closing set by sultry singer/performer Margot Blanche (with The Wyld Cherries)! And featuring rocket-fueled glam rock band Starbolt 9 as the "Sextacular! Sextacular!" house band! Additional choreography by theatre director Rachel Klein!
"Sextacular! Sextacular!" is on Saturday, January 30th at 10:00pm at Hiro Ballroom, located at 89 9th Ave (between 16th & 17th St). Doors open at 9pm. Admission is $15.
Joey Nova is a NYC-based Theatre/burlesque Producer and Set Designer whose most recent work can be seen on the set of the revival of "The Wiz" at City Center and on the glittery retro-futuristic gang-deb play, “Go-Go Killers!” at the Sage Theater in Times Square. He is the producer and co-host of the monthly burlesque show "Cutie Patooties" at Cake Shop, and co-host of "Vroom! Vision" at The Slipper Room, and has worked with other notable shows such as Wasabassco Burlesque's "The NEW Monday Night Burlesque" at Public Assembly.
