By Andrew Martin

Andrew_MartinANDREW MARTIN began his career in cabaret as a performer in various "Kiddie Kabaret" series at such venues as Paper Moon and Something Different in the early 1980s. In late 1990, now a fully-fledged adult cabaret artist, he also began a career in journalism as a cabaret reviewer for Night & Day Magazine and the weekly radio show "New York Entertainment Digest" on WRTN-FM, besides writing feature articles about other areas of entertainment and conducting interviews.

After a year-long stint at the weekly New York Native newspaper contributing a cabaret review column, he launched CaB Magazine in 1991, which quickly became the leading print publication of its time to cover not only cabaret and standup comedy but theater, film, media, jazz, dining and other cultural topics. Upon its closure in 1997, Mr. Martin contributed feature articles to such publications as Back Stage and New England Entertainment Digest, and co-hosted the "Cabaret Corner' segment on "New York Theater Review" on PBS with Roy Sander. He was nominated for a 1994 MAC Award for Outstanding Male Musical Comedy, and that same year was named Musical Comedy Personality of the Year by WBAI-FM. He is also a founding member of the award-winning and critically-acclaimed sketch comedy group The Mistake. Besides his interest in cabaret, Mr. Martin is the author of the forthcoming book "Scene Stealers: The Supporting Actors And Actresses No One Could Ever Forget" and the co-creator of the screenplay "Exit Laughing," a biography of the 1960s comedy star Allan Sherman. He is also co-creating the hour-long comedy series "Breach Of Conduct" for cable television, and developing the documentary film "The Unsung Heroine," about rock music photographer Jini Dellacio.
